Gladiator

I call this dress my gladiator dress because it just reminds me of a gladiatress (no that isn't a word, but I think it should be). So, of course, I dress it up to make it even more like a gladiatress with gladiator sandals and a bold necklace (then I apparently stand like a Greek statue).

Style Tip: Maxi dresses are great to have in your closet because they are easy to throw on and look cute on days you may be feeling uninspired.

These shoes were love at first sight for me! I don't usually shop at Kohl's, but I happened to venture in there with my mom one day and surprisingly found these beauts. I use any excuse that I can find to wear them because they are definitely my favorite heels... and the best part? They are actually comfortable!! Black and white is always a go-to color combo for me when I am having a "closet full of clothes, but nothing to wear" kinda day.

Style Tip: A black and white striped top/sweater/tank (whatever you so choose) is a good staple to have in your wardrobe.

This morning I woke up and really wanted to wear my cowboy boots, but something wasn't right about them... I'm not really a cowboy boot wearin' kinda girl! So, after trying to figure out what was wrong with them for a while it hit me... they are cowboy boots! Let me clarify that there is nothing wrong with cowboy boots, they just aren't really me! The whole reason that I bought them was because I loved the color combination, and after having them for almost a year I had only worn them once. So, I took scissors to them and cut them off into something that I would wear and I am extremely happy with the results. These babies are going to make quite a few appearances on here so get ready for it!

Style Tip: If you are really loving something in your closet, but something just isn't right about it or it doesn't match your style, play with it for a little bit and see what you can do differently. You never know, you could come up with your new favorite shoes like I did.

This dress is one of my absolute favorites! I love the patterns, the slits, the buttons, pretty much everything about it... and the best part? It's super comfortable and easy to wear! I've worn it several different ways: with gladiator sandals, with black flats, with edgy shoes... this is my first time trying it with heels and it works with all of them.

Style Tip: Have a great go to dress that you love to wear that you can wear on any occasion!

I am seriously loving the short suit trend right now! It is such a great outfit for summer and if you work in a casual environment like I do, it is GREAT to wear to work. Play around with it... you can match the shorts and blazer, mix and match, play with colors on the undershirt, etc.

Style Tip: Have a great blazer that you can wear with any outfit. A blazer can change the entire look of an outfit completely and it is perfect for giving your look a dressed up feel.

When in doubt...

When in doubt go with black! Also, when you have to wear black don't be afraid to spruce it up with some style! As my fellow stylists, models, and other creatives know we are required to wear black on set a lot... I spruce mine up with some leather bottoms and great shoes.

Style Tip: Don't be afraid to play with proportion! Big on top and skinny on bottom is really on trend right now and so easy to wear. You can also flip this and go skinny on top and wide on the bottom... play around with it and see what you like best!

When the denim on denim trend first started I was not on board. After a couple of months though I found myself owning 5 denim shirts, 3 denim jackets, and of course endless amounts of jeans so I started giving it a try. Now, it is my go-to when I am running late or am feeling uninspired. The best part about it? You can do so many different things with it like add a fun vest or jacket, or play with different kinds of jeans and shoes. The possibilities are endless with denim on denim!!

Style Tip: Get a denim shirt. Even if you aren't a fan of denim on denim... You can pair it back to white, black, or colored jeans for a go-to outfit!

What is your favorite denim look??

Good Morning! Sometimes you need an outfit that is easy to move in, comfortable, and still fun! This is my running errands, working late, or hanging out at the beach dress. It is Soft Joie and they use the softest (guess that's where they get the name) fabric which makes all of these pieces so easy and comfortable to wear.

Style Tip: Have a couple of easy and comfortable dresses in your closet...Take it from me they are the best for running errands in, shopping, hanging out on the beach... well, I could go on but I won't.

I am having so much fun discovering the many wonderful places that L.A. has to explore. This weekend I went to the Farmer's Market and got some delicious Mexican Food. Unfortunately, I am obsessed with queso, and I am quickly finding out that queso is not offered at Mexican restaurants in California. So, anyone with any good queso recipes (not velveeta) please feel free to share!

I wanted to wear an outfit that was comfortable and easy to get around in. I am loving high waisted pants, shorts, jeans, swimsuits... really anything high waisted for summer! These shoes are my go-to shoes when I know I will be walking or standing a lot. They are extremely comfortable and really easy to get around in!

When the overall trend first started coming back I wasn't sure how I felt about it... then I realized that I LOVE IT! Overalls are super fun and a great summer option. Denim is in and I don't see it going anywhere anytime soon so try it out in different forms and have fun with it!

Style Tip: Own Oxfords. Although that may not sound like a tip, it definitely is! Oxfords can take any outfit to a fun place and they are super comfortable!

These two vintage necklaces are by far my favorite items in my jewelry collection. I got both of them for my birthday this year (locket from my mom and camera from a friend) and I have worn them almost every day since. Layering accessories is a lot of fun, and I am really loving this trend right now... Try it out with some of your favorites!

Style Tip: Find a couple of go-to accessories that you absolutely love in order to have some sort of accessory to wear with any outfit you choose.

New Week - New Inspiration

Read Article →
Not only is it a new week, but I start a new job today. I think that a great start to any week is by looking at something that inspires you! My inspiration comes from many things: fashion, street style, craftiness, art... the list goes on. Since I am living in Los Angeles, I thought I would honor it by sharing some of my celebrity street style inspiration with you.

I adore Kate Bosworth and her style. This look is so great for a hot summer day running around with your beau. Asymmetrical hems are all the rage right now, we are seeing them in short skirts, long skirts, dresses, and shorts. Kate pulls these off brilliantly going for a monochromatic look with the sleeveless button-down top. Monochromatic is also big this summer, especially in light neutral colors. Lastly, her sandals are to die for. If you don't have a pair of ankle strap sandals, heels, or flats please open up a new tab and get some immediately because this trend is one that you want to be a part of. Here are some of my favorite ankle strap looks: ZaraAsos, and Pixie Market.

I am obsessed with the trend of short suits this year. The Kardashian's are very hot and cold with their style. You can find them on both the worst dressed lists and the best dressed lists. However, Kourtney is rocking the short suits and I love this look on her! The black and white striped shirt and black flats are the perfect way to make this look more casual. I am loving Banana Republic's version with a vest as the top piece.

I am loving this look on Rihanna. The tricky thing with some celebrities is that an outfit can look incredible on them and then it just doesn't work on you. This look is great because it can work on anybody! Notice that she is wearing some ankle strap flats (because as noted before they are freakin' awesome and a must have for summer) with cut-off denim shorts and a printed tee. Rihanna dressed this look up with a blazer, a chunky Chanel necklace, and a Celine clutch. This look is a great day to night outfit for summer.

Well Friends, I made it to Los Angeles. The drive was long, but it was incredibly beautiful so I didn't mind. Plus, I got some awesome Mexican food in El Paso on the way. I am so excited to be here in L.A. and can't wait to see what the future holds. Most of my friends know that I like love fashion and personal style. This will be my fashion diary, but I am also going to throw in some lifestyle elements as well. California is WAY to beautiful not to share with everyone.

There are so many new and exciting things to explore here in California. Being from Dallas, Texas I am astounded by the extraordinary beauty of California. I went to Malibu this past weekend to relax by... wait for it... the BEACH! Definitely not something that I have ever been able to do, being from the middle of the country, with the exception of the occasional beach vacation. It was such a wonderful and relaxing Saturday. The weather was perfect and the drive there was breath taking!
