Local Spot: Senor Fish

Potato Taco Platter
Anyone who knows me knows that I love Mexican food. In Texas it is mostly Tex-Mex and it has been an adjustment getting used to SoCal Mexican food, but it is still delicious. The only thing that I miss that Tex-Mex offers and I can't find here is queso... NO, I don't mean just cheese! Queso is this wonderful invention that is served as an appetizer in Tex-Mex restaurants. It is melted cheese with peppers and whatever else they want to put in it, and it is served with chips and salsa. I'll get off of my queso rant though to talk about this place, Senor Fish, in Little Tokyo. We went here because it is close to work and looked so delicious. They are known for their fish tacos (hence the name Senor Fish) but, as I am a vegetarian, I opted to get the potato tacos. Everything about this meal was delicious. I don't have a single complaint, other than there being no queso on the menu ;). If you are in Los Angeles try Senor Fish it is well worth it and you will thank me later.

Local Spot: The Pie Hole

Strawberry Pretzel Pie
Every Friday my friend Vicky and I try a new restaurant around Downtown LA that we have heard amazing reviews for. The Pie Hole is nestled in Downtown in a hole in the wall place, but if you find it you will be hooked addicted. They not only have these delicious sweet pies that are enough to make you want to order 10 more, but they also have salty pies. So, feeling adventurous we ordered the Macaroni and Cheese pie along with this beauty. Moral of the story: Get to Downtown LA and immediately go to The Pie Hole.

My fellow Texans... they even have Dublin Dr. Pepper!!

Tank Lucky Brand / Pants Ralph Lauren / Booties INC / Necklace Thrifted / Bracelets Lucky Brand / Watch Fossil

I found these pants about a year ago at Macy's and had to have them. These babies are great to wear when I am running late and don't want to throw on my boyfriend jeans and tee shirt... which is what happened today! I added a little leopard in there to have some pattern and WA-LA, I was ready for the day.

Style Tip: Have a patterned pair of shoes that you can add to a plain outfit to give it a lil' somethin' somethin'.

When I know that I will be moving around a lot then I automatically go to a jumpsuit for my outfit choice. Of course, there are many different kinds of jumpsuits all the way from extremely dressy to what you see in this post. Jumpsuits are here to stay it seems, so go out and get one that you know you will wear a lot... you won't regret it!

Style Tip: Try out a jumpsuit that matches your style. There are so many different kinds, but they are super easy to wear and you will most likely get so many compliments every time you wear it ;)

Just Add a Hat

Dress Free People / Hat Lucky Brand / Booties Lucky Brand / Bracelets and Cuff Lucky Brand / Watch Fossil

I'm not a huge fan of really girly clothes, so, I typically pair them back to masculine accessories or outerwear. In this case I paired this lace Free People dress back to some super masculine Lucky Brand boots and the outfit just wasn't complete... so I just added a hat!

Style Tip: Don't be afraid to mix masculine and feminine because the outcome can potentially be your new favorite outfit. Try a military or CAMO jacket with a lace dress, or add some masculine accessories to a peplum top.

Tank Zara / Shorts American Apparel / Blazer Thrifted / Shoes Zara / Ring Lucky Brand / Bracelets Lucky Brand / Watch Fossil

Like I've said before, I l-o-v-e short suits this summer! I have three pairs of these high-waisted American Apparel shorts, and they are fantastic for a couple of reasons: they are linen so they are light for summer, they are high-waisted, my butt doesn't hang out of the bottom, and the colors they come in go with everything!

Style Tip: If you are uncomfortable with wearing the short suit to work, test it out on a day off.

Top Lucky Brand / Coated Jeans Lucky Brand / Shoes Zara / Purse Liz Claiborne / Ring Lucky Brand / Watch Fossil

I am loving coated jeans because they add something unique and different to your outfit! When you are headed out to a business lunch but the dress isn't professional, this is a great option.

Style Tip: A relaxed white button up is a great staple to have in your wardrobe because you can dress it up with a pencil skirt or slacks, or just throw it on with some jeans for a more casual look.

Tee Lucky Brand / Jorts LOFT / Shoes Vibram / Sunglasses Thrifted

Just went on a litte (and by little I mean extremely intense) hike this weekend! Tucked away in a canyon in Malibu are these beautiful waterfalls that you can climb your way up to. What I did not know is that apparently the falls dry up during summer and don't start back up again until Spring... However, it was still extremely beautiful!

Swimsuit Anthropologie / Bracelet Lucky Brand

This past weekend we had an "excessive heat warning" here is L.A. I thought of it as a good day to go to the beach and test out the water... So, I wouldn't think of it so much as excessive heat as it was the perfect beach day!!

Top Zara / Pants Zara / Rings Lucky Brand / Bracelet Lucky Brand / Watch Fossil / Necklace Lucky Brand

Zara is such a magical place with some fabulous finds... like these pants! I love, love, LOVE these pants. They are silk so they are extremely comfortable to wear and the print is to die for.

Style Tip: With a crazy print like this you can easily pair it back to a solid top, or you can have fun and mix prints. Next time I wear these I will be mixing in some stripes on top. Prints can be hard (and scary) to mix together but just play with it until you find something that works. If you are still unsure, ask a friend before you venture out!

Tank Lucky Brand / Shorts Urban Outfitters / Necklace Lucky Brand / Shoes Vintage

When I saw these shorts at Urban Outfitters I knew that these were going to be part of my July 4th outfit! They are super comfortable and light so perfect for wearing outside and celebrating our nations birthday! These shoes were a gift from my mother, she always finds me the best vintage items (like the necklace from earlier posts).

Have a great and stylish fourth of July!

Tank Lucky Brand / Jacket Lucky Brand / Jeans Lucky Brand / Bracelets Lucky Brand / Necklace Lucky Brand / Watch Fossil / Shoes Milk & Honey

Hands down these are my favorite pair of jeans that I own! I can pretty much wear anything with these jeans and feel great about it. I just bought this jacket at Lucky Brand last week and have worn it probably 50% of the days since then. It just goes with everything and adds that 'little somethin' to these outfits.

Style Tip: Have a jacket that you can wear with any outfit for two reasons: 1. It adds an extra somethin' somethin' to your outfit and 2. if you are anything like me you will get cold no matter where you go so having a jacket that goes with everything makes it easy to stay warm!
