Graphic tees are definitely a staple in my wardrobe because they are so versatile. It probably doesn't come as a surprise that I snatched up this vintage Fender men's tee as soon as I saw it. I paired it back to this pleather sleeved blazer (given to me by my good friend, Aldo) for a more polished look to go with my new shoes.

I spotted these babies at Nordstrom Rack and fell instantly in love. They shoes are just so cool! I almost feel like Michael Jackson when I wear them (not sure why but it's true)!

Sweet on Suede

Sweater Lucky Brand (here) / Skirt Bebe (similar here or here) / Boots Lucky Brand (similar here) / Bracelets Abby Pointe (site coming soon)

We all know cozy wear in sunny Cali can mean a wide variety of things-- of course in my book, it means a hot pink mini skirt. This adorable suede gem was a surprise find while thrifting at Goodwill with my partner in crime, Sherilynn-- so yes, this sweet little thing came home with me for a whole $2.50! Hot pink & suede? Definitely my kind of steal ;)

But in all seriousness, I love throwing in a fun color (& texture) as an extra element to a more neutral look-- paired with this chunky, cowl-neck sweater & my favorite boots, the pop of pink suede is just too sweet to pass up!

Stay bundled & have a sweet Monday!

Texas Tex-Mex Feast

It is tradition on my dad's side of the family to do a huge Tex-Mex feast. My dad was born and raised in El Paso, Texas and he, his mom (my grandma), and his sister (my aunt) learned to cook amazing Mexican food! My Aunt Tracy actually worked at a Tex-Mex restaurant for a while and learned a few tricks along the way.

+On my plate: Cheese enchilada, flour tortilla, chips and guac, rice, two chile rellenos, and a side of salsa (sweet tea to drink)+

This feast consists of steak fajitas (which obviously aren't pictured on my plate), chile rellenos, red and green enchiladas, pinto beans, rice, chips and guacamole, salsa, and flour tortillas. The important thing to note is that all of this is cooked to perfection by my family... not store bought, and it is better than anything you will find at any restaurant. I look forward to this meal every single year, and just wish that my stomach was bigger so that I could eat more of it!

Hope y'all had a yummy Christmas!

All Bundled Up

I snatched this vest up as soon as it came out last year at Banana Republic and it is still one of my favorites. It was definitely not 80 degrees today, or any day since I've been here, so fur is definitely a must to stay warm. While headed to East Texas to visit my dad's side of the family, I decided to add a little bit of plaid to my outfit to dress down the fur a bit.

These pictures are taken in my grandma and grandpa's front yard, with this beautiful giant tree that has been there since I can remember. East Texas is a bit country, but it is quite beautiful with it's tall trees and pine needle smell.

Coat Anthropologie (here) / Dress Nordstrom B.P. (similar here or here) / Heels Ivanka Trump / Necklace Lucky Brand (here) / Bracelet Kate Spade (here) / Purse Kate Spade (here) / Sunnies LOFT

Well, let's be real here. It's definitely still 80 degrees in LA this week, BUT by the coast there can always be an unexpected breeze (& room for a little splurge justifying...!) When I stepped into Anthro a couple weeks ago, of course only on the hunt for a new candle, I saw this gorgeous camel coat staring at me in the sale section. Doesn't it scream sixties & totally adorable?!

I usually don't pay attention to employee sweet-talk, but this time when one of the girls gushed that this coat was made for me...well, we all know what the outcome was here. ;)

Leopard fur collar, rich camel color, vintage swing shape, toggle buttons, & classic red lining. I don't think there could be a more perfect little coat! What I love about this is actually how timeless the style & cut is and because the wool is on the lighter side, it's completely SoCal Winter appropriate.

Today, I went for a little lace chiffon dress, keeping the outfit classic & girly-- but I'm totally excited to rock this jacket with coated jeans & fun, edgy heels.

Stay cozy & warm this weekend-- when in doubt, just add a little fur!

Texas our Texas

When people think of Texas they often just think of the heat, but what most people don't realize is that it gets pretty darn cold in the winter (hence the ice storms a couple of weeks ago). Fortunately, I get to get a little bit more use out of my favorite Kate Spade Saturday coat. Today I did a little bit of shopping before meeting my dad for his birthday dinner, so I decided to cas it up a bit and wear my new Converse All Stars- I'm officially addicted!

Shirt Urban Outfitters (similar here)  / Coat Kate Spade Saturday (here) / Scarf Street Vendor / Jeans Lucky Brand (available in stores) / Shoes Converse (here) / Purse Kate Spade

Being home is a lot of fun - getting to see family and friends, but the differences from here to LA are huge, and let's just say... I definitely chose the right place to live. Well, I'm off to shop today with a couple of new gift cards and you can bet that I will be wearing these great new converse - I mean shopping is like exercise, right?

Horsing Around

Sweatshirt J.Crew (here & similar here) / Blouse Nordstrom / Jeans Lucky Brand (similar here) / Sandals Vince Camuto (similar here & here) / Sunnies LOFT (here)

Like Sherilynn, I just wanted to "cas" it up a bit after all the Christmas festivities! I love that active wear has become a fun new trend this year and couldn't help myself when I saw this adorable sweatshirt at J.Crew. I already die over anything with a whimsical print...bring horses into the picture & I'm so sold! Graphic statements are the perfect ease into trying out active pieces as fashion-- and you can totally dress up a casual sweatshirt just by adding a cute blouse underneath for a that special pop of collar (and color) & some chunky heeled sandals.

J.Crew is seriously killing it as always with their fun play on active wear-- I'm a total sucker for special details like unexpected rhinestones & bows on seemingly casual pieces. So while this horse sweatshirt is already sold out, have fun searching for that one piece that speaks to you!

Happy post-Christmas shopping! :)

A Christmas Story

Merry Christmas dear friends! Well, here we are in two different places for the holidays again, so we thought it'd be fun to share a little Dallas to LA story with you all. From east to west, home is the best! Enjoy! ;)

Over in Texas...

Dress Free People (similar here) / Tights H&M (here) / Shoes JustFab (here) / Bracelet Wolfhardt (similar here) Necklace Lucky Brand (here) / Purse Kate Spade

Christmas parties are just so much fun! I love coming up with outfits for this special season, and for me it isn't too hard because black is already the majority of my wardrobe. I actually found this Free People number the day before my dear friend's Christmas party & it changed my whole outfit idea. I'm usually not comfortable in dresses this short, but paired with tights I don't mind it so much-- I can't wait to try it with some black jeans too.

It isn't often that I add something to my core accessories collection, but I am a sucker for a great leather wrap bracelet. When I received this one from Wolfhardt I knew that this was going to go straight into my core collection. Y'all know by now that I wear a lot of black and tend to go towards edgy styles, so this bracelet fits right in.

I had the opportunity to shoot with the beautifully talented Yesi Fortuna before our Christmas party and it is always a blast shooting with her and the pictures always turn out better than imagined. Though I love Vicky's choice of bright colors & metallics, this season was all about mixing up dark neutrals for me. I love getting to see the differences in our wardrobes and this holiday season is no exception!

Off in LA....

Tank Kate Spade Saturday (here) / Pants J.Crew (other colors here) / Heels Zara (here) / Jewelry Lucky Brand (similar here & here) / Purse Kate Spade (here)

Now if you haven't noticed already, this season is all about sparkle & shine for me. What better way to get into the holiday spirit than with this adorable trapeze tank from Kate Spade Saturday? I can't help but feel extra festive wearing this not-so-subtle, but ridiculously cute, silver tank-- love!

And in the spirit of a SoCal Christmas, this outfit is totally perfect for a day out in the sun, hopping on a train for a little day trip...or just taking a walk to the park with the fam.  Later, just kick on some strappy heels & dress this baby up for that holiday party tonight! I've recently been having so much fun mixing metallics & decided to add gold jewelry today to contrast against the silver.

Jacket Lucky Brand (similar here & here) / Tank Forever 21 (similar here) / Jeans Lucky Brand (here) / Booties Aldo (similar here) / Necklaces/Bangles Abby Point (site coming soon) / Rings Etsy (here)

I'm a little obsessed with any kind of over-embellished detail. I got so lucky at the Lucky Brand sample sale (pun totally intended) & scored on this silk, hand-beaded beauty. While I know this particular jacket is not in stores anymore, it's one of those timeless statements that are definitely out there & will last a lifetime-- so unique & beautifully made. It's so darn pretty, I wish I could wear it everyday...

And even with a completely bedazzled jacket on, I decided to have some fun over-accessorizing too. Go big or go home, right? I love layering dainty necklaces & bangles-- gives your look a little spunk & interest.

Have a dazzling day, loves.

Sunday Funday - Room Service

Read Article →
My go-to food in Texas is Tex-Mex, but because that does not exist in California, my new go-to has changed to Thai. So, when my friend told me that we would be eating Thai food before the ballet (in NYC) I was 100% down. Room Service is very beautifully decorated with a giant chandelier as the focal point in the front center. It is one of those places that you walk into wondering how much you are about to spend on your spring rolls, but the best part is that it is priced comparable to any other Thai restaurant. This 9th Avenue gem is definitely one that I will be visiting again (and again... and again!)

Corn Spring Rolls
I am obsessed with spring rolls and vegetarian egg rolls, so I was a little skeptical of corn spring rolls. However, these were so delicious and I highly recommend them to start out your meal here.

Sesame Tofu
If you're not a vegetarian you might opt for something else on the menu because there was a lot that looked good, BUT if you like tofu and/or are a vegetarian then you cannot go wrong with sesame coated tofu. The sauce that they paired with this was perfection and these did not last for long between me and Aldo.

Vegetable Fried Rice
Fried rice is usually always my main course at Thai restaurants. I love spicy anything, but there is something about spicy fried rice that I crave constantly. I usually order it spicy, but then drown it in sriracha (try it... so freaking good)! This fried rice was some of the best that I have ever had hands down. I barely put any sriracha on it because the flavor was impeccable. I highly recommend this restaurant to our New Yorkers out there or anyone planning on visiting.
