Fall Daze

Read Article →
These days just seem to be flying by, don't they? I swing back & forth choosing Fall as my favorite season because while seasons in LA aren't all that different from one another, the "turning of leaves" signifies more than just a move to sweater weather. Fall to me breathes a new chapter, a new color, and a new mood.

Dress Nordstrom B.P. / Pumps Christian Louboutin / Clutch J.Crew / Bangle Kate Spade

My evergreen love for shift dresses remains the same this season, but Fall is all the more reason to add a few cute long-sleeves to the collection. A bold pop of red floral is an easy way to spice up an overall darker look and...did I mention this dress has pockets? Win!

I die for any kind of cute open-back dresses, something to jazz up a classic boat-neck front, which I love. And I've gone with my Loubs here to dress this one up, but I've totally worn this dress to work with black booties & a leather moto jacket too.

Besides the obvi obsession for cozy wear, blanket scarves and all, I love that Fall is such a push forward to change, decluttering & introspection. And not to say that a new hairstyle or new pair of boots will change the world, but they're definitely fun baby steps in that direction. ;)

Bundle up loves & cheers to the last month of 2014!

xoxo,
Vicky

Happy Birthday, Threadalert ♥

Hello dolls,

It's hard to believe we've already hit our 1-year anniversary, but indeed October 22nd marks the sweet day we decided to join forces & share our love for life with you all.

We know it's been a little quiet on our end, but we promise we haven't forgotten about you! While the back half of this year has been quite the hustle & bustle, we're excited to hop back into this new season with you.

With that said, you know the drill..walk with us, talk with us & don't forget to shop with us!

I have been doing  a great job at not shopping - pause for shock factor here! I know, I know that it is probably very hard to believe, but it's true! I've been trying to make new outfits out of the hundreds of clothes that I already have. Plus, I moved into a charming new house (you'll see it soon) that is really limiting how many new clothes I can buy. That being said, I have been getting inspired to try new things, and mix and match a lot more so you will be able to see how to wear things multiple ways!

These J Crew pants have quickly become a staple in my closet - not only are they the perfect fit, but they are also super comfortable and can go dressy or casual with the change of a shoe.

Sweater Uniqlo / Pants J.Crew / Shoes Cosmopolitan / Sunnies Thrifted

Loving a comfortable vibe for a busy day - work, blogging, friends, boyfriend, and writing a book can be very time consuming. Some days you just have to trade out the heels for some flats - who am I kidding? Most days I trade out heels for flats ;)

I don't know if you've heard but..Fall is code for leather, leather, leather! We're both so obsessed with this moto jacket by Lucky Brand & pretty much pair this babe with everything. (BTW you should really grab one now while it's on sale...!!)

Jacket Lucky Brand (here) / Dress MinkPink (here) / Heels Calvin Klein / Necklace Lucky Brand

And we may have been on a long hiatus but not much has changed in my natural tendency towards bright colors & bold patterns. MinkPink always does both these things marvelously. I've also recently grown to love neutrals & minimal combinations much more, but thought a little spunk, daisies & pop of statement jewelry would do the trick for our little birthday celebration!

More to come soon...we promise. ;)

The Bay Life

Alright Loves - I know we have been gone a while and although I can't promise that we are back at full force yet, I can tell you that we are excited and ready to be back! Thank you for your patience as we have been busy with work, travel, and personal life - we are so grateful for y'all!

Throughout this Hiatus I have been doing a lot of traveling, and am not done quite yet - with a stay-cation in Malibu, a wedding in Dallas, and a weekend get-a-way to Ojai are quickly approaching. A few weeks ago I went to San Francisco for a weekend, and fell in love with the city - not a huge fan of the weather, but that is neither here nor there.

Top Zara / Jeans Lucky Brand / Hat NYC Street Vendor / Flats Cosmopolitan / Watch Fossil

We rented a car and drove up the PCH - it's a long drive, but 100% worth it - the views were breathtaking. My parents rented a car and drove the coast a few years ago and my mom couldn't stop talking about it, and I was like "okay, okay I get it, it was beautiful, cool!" Now that I have done it myself, I understand why she was so obsessed with it - mountains to the right and ocean as far as you can see to the left - if you ever get a chance DO IT!

My boyfriend is a big HUGE Giants fan, so while we were there the weekend before his birthday we, of course, went to a Giants game (p.s. in case you don't follow baseball they are going to the World Series as of last night).

It is hard to choose what my favorite part of my trip to San Fran was, but one of them definitely was going on an 8 mile bike ride across the Golden Gate Bridge and, of course, getting ice cream once we made it across. I never even thought that riding a bike across this gorgeous bridge was an option, but this is another activity that if you get a chance to do you should jump on.

Glad to be back - stay tuned for more!

LA Chapter

Photography: Karen Chen

Once again, LA woos me. The Ace Hotel in DTLA has become quite the hip little scene since it opened recently & we all know what a sucker I am for a good view..!

Thus, my dear and very talented friend Karen Chen & I couldn't think of a better spot to enjoy the LA skyline & celebrate all that's been going on lately. And my, what a busy season it has been. In between all the recent traveling & wedding festivities, I definitely treasure a moment to reflect on things God's been teaching me in this current chapter of life. It's hard to believe how quickly 2014 is flying by but it certainly has been sweet learning to savor experiences both big and small.

That of course includes our delish choice of oysters this evening AND Karen's fun capture of my new skort obsession. Pleated, pleather, asymmetrical, textured. You name it? I have it. I love this one especially because of the understated olive color & gorgeous pleating, you wouldn't even really guess shorts are hiding under all the movement! Paired with a little tank & heels, this look is totally wear-to-work with the appropriate jacket & easily ready for a night out. Love!

Happy Friday-- do hop on over to the Ace if you can! ;)

xoxo,
Vicky

Polka Please

Tank Michael Kors / Skirt Thrifted / Heels Calvin Klein / Bag Tory Burch / Rings Lucky Brand / Mani Gloss Nail Spa

This LA heat wave has been both glorious & slightly unbearable...I suppose all the more reason to hop on over to one of my favorite Koreatown cafes, Caffe Concerto. Not only is the place itself the cutest thing you've ever seen, the treats are just as adorable.  For a quick refreshing coke float & macarons to-go? I mean...

On a hot summer day, an easy breezy skirt is really the only thing I want to wear out. And this super girly polka dotted midi was really too precious to pass up.  Have we not mentioned Sherilynn's genius decision to hand over any & all things pink in her closet to me? She's the best, I know. ;)

I normally might have thought the over sized polka mixed with this sequin striped tank could be overwhelming but I kind of love the two pieces together. It's a bit bolder of a statement, but definitely a fun & casual one.

Happy weekend loves, perhaps I shall see you at a cafe nearby...or at 7/11 for slurpee day! ;)

Vicky

A Day at the Park

Ah, Central Park. Our daily go-to spot in the city. In between wandering all the streets of Manhattan, the park is just such a breath of fresh air. Of course, we may or may not have chosen to walk the park in dresses & heels..

New York at this time of the year is just ridiculously beautiful. We couldn't have asked for a prettier day to take a break from the shopping & get a little sun!

And obvi, macarons were an easy post-park decision..

We're definitely happy to be back in LA, but a little NYC dreamin' can't hurt! ;)

Just Keep Swimming, Swimming, Swimming

I love going on adventures, so when my friend found that we could go kayaking through caves in La Jolla (just 2 hours away from LA), I knew that's what I wanted to do for my birthday!

Fortunately, my friend brought a water proof camera along so I was able to document our adventure.

There is something about being on the beach that makes me feel like I am exactly where I should be. I didn't grow up near a beach, and even though I visited one almost every summer, I never knew what I was missing out on. There are so many things to do with a beach just 10 miles away!!

I had such a beautiful birthday - thank you to everyone who made it come to life!

Head Over Heels

Okay ladies, we all know this to be cheesy & true - When you give a woman the right pair of shoes, she's said to be able to conquer the world...

Buying your first pair of really great shoes is such an exhilarating feeling. Usually it is something that one would save up for, but when in Rome....

We were actually wandering on our way to Laduree for macarons when we ran into the Christian Louboutin boutique - obviously we had to go in! We fell in love with almost all of the beautiful pieces of art aka shoes, and decided to try on some basic black pumps just for fun. Making the decision to buy wasn't as hard as we would have thought, but that's bound to happen when you put two shopaholics together - you begin to justify anything & everything!

S: Jacket Lucky Brand / Tee Madewell / Jeans Lucky Brand / Crossbody Zara / Heels Christian Louboutin
V: Top Topshop / Leggings Zara / Purse Tory Burch / Heels Christian Louboutin

We actually ended up purchasing the same exact pair-- we went head over heels with the simplicity & beauty of these patent black pumps. To be honest, you really shouldn't try on unless you are planning on buying them because you will probably fall in love too. These babies got good use throughout Manhattan for the rest of the week & we can't wait to break these in back home in LA.

If you're asking us, totally worth it. :)

Breakfast at Tiffany's

Audrey Hepburn. NYC. Breakfast at Tiffany's. Need we say more?
So here we were, you bet having Breakfast at Tiffany's, or as my friend put it - eating on the street in front of Tiffany's, was on our agenda.

Top Brandy Melville / Jacket Lucky Brand / Jeans Lucky Brand / Purse Zara / Shoes Birkenstocks

Most of my favorite movies include Audrey Hepburn, so this had been on my bucket list for a while. My friend that I stay with in New York happens to be male and for some weird reason never wants to do this with me. So, when Vicky and I planned out our trip, this was one of the first things that I mentioned. We first popped over to the Plaza Food Hall to grab a delicious pastry (I got a heavenly scone) and of course our first dose of caffeine for the morning.

I had to honor the late Miss Hepburn by wearing black to Tiffany's, but of course gave it my own spin with wearing a crop top and distressed jeans and surprise, surprise my Birkenstocks!

Crop Top Thrifted / Skirt LOFT / Flats Zara / Necklace BaubleBar / Clutch JCrew

Totally got the black crop top memo for Tiffany's, but with my favorite, classic high neck (or in this case, turtleneck) & paired with my favorite skirt in the world. Let's not pretend to be surprised that I chose to wander around New York city in a tulle skirt..Carrie Bradshaw AND Audrey Hepburn moment in one? Dying of happiness, I know. :)

We had the best time exploring the beautiful Big Apple together, and this definitely has to be one of my favorite moments with my dear S.

And of course after eating our pastries, we may or may not have window shopped every floor in Tiffany's too...

More NYC memories to come-- stay tuned!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all of the mom's out there!!

I love my mom because she inspires my creativity and encourages me to follow my dreams. She was completely selfless in raising me and my sister (always in matching clothes with a bow) and I honestly cannot thank her enough!

Don't forget to tell your mom why you love her today!

Off the Paved Road

I'm a pretty outdoorsy person - you can tempt me to do just about anything outside. For my birthday I got a group of my closest friends together and we went kayaking... not your typical dream birthday but for me it was ideal! I should also mention that there is not a ton of things to do outside in Texas, and living there for 23 years I had pretty much done everything there was to do. So, moving to LA was a dream come true in so many ways - one of those ways being that there is so many outdoor activities.

Recently my dear friend, Yesi Fortuna, came to LA and stayed with me for a month while she rocked out some great photography. I convinced her to go on a hike with me (which is not easy to convince a TX that isn't from Austin to do). Of course, we turned it into a little mini photo shoot, but we had a blast climbing up to Griffith Park Observatory.

Normally I wouldn't wear a skirt to go hiking, but it was such an easy hike and I am slightly obsessed with this extremely comfortable skirt, so why not? Paired back to my usual - sneakers and a tee - this outfit is definitely one of my faves. Of course, you can definitely dress a skirt like this up as well, but it's me and it's LA - talk to me next week when I'm in NYC and it may have an edgy chunky heel paired with it!

May Day

Read Article →
May is such a cheery month & we are getting so excited to arrive in the Big Apple very soon...but first I wanted to say thank you to everyone who made my 24th birthday so special this year!

After an already treat-filled & sweet day at the office, my sister & brother-in-law decided to surprise me with this ginormous birthday balloon. As we headed toward Manhattan Beach Post for din (one of my absolute favs), I couldn't stop giggling at the scene we were causing! So much pink & so much balloon-- it's still taking up half my living room as we speak.

I am so encouraged & inspired by all of you.
Thank you for a blessed birthday this year & cheers to 24!
